A Drink For Every Kickoff Time

One of the most important questions that must be answered on Colts game day, beyond which jersey to wear, is deciding what to eat and drink during the game. We’ve been helping you out during the season with great ideas for your tailgating dips, sandwiches, wings and burgers. Today we’re going to talk about drinks!

I like to plan my game day beverages by taking into kickoff time into consideration. After all, what you crave at your 11 a.m. tailgate is completely different from what you want when you sit down for Monday Night Football.  Here are three drinks for three different kickoff times, plus a bonus fun non-alcoholic beverage for the kids.

1:00 pm Kickoff

Whether you’re tailgating with friends near Lucas Oil Stadium or watching the game from home, these Good Morning Margaritas will be a hit. Full of fresh orange juice and a touch of lime, these sunny drinks will put you in a good mood for the first game of the day.

4:25 pm Kickoff

Half the day is behind you, but it’s time to get amped up to cheer on your team! This is the time of day when I need a little extra caffeine kick to get me through four quarters of football. I love getting a boost with a nice, cold Diet Coke in the afternoon. Mixed with a little vodka, vanilla and grenadine, this Cherry Vanilla Dirty Coke hits the spot! Feel free to substitute regular Coca-Cola if that’s your thing.

8:30 pm Kickoff

Throw that Colts jersey on over your pajama pants and get comfy for some football! Whether it’s Thursday, Sunday or Monday, Cream Stout Cocoa  is your night game drink. Quick and easy homemade hot chocolate pairs with your favorite stout beer and a splash of cream or a dollop of whipped cream for sweet game time treat.

For a fun and refreshing treat that’s perfect for kids, try some Goal Post Lemonade. They’re super easy. Either buy a premade green beverage from the juice or soda aisle, or mix blue Kool-aid with yellow lemonade. Gussy up your glasses with field lines using a Sharpie, and use these instructions to construct some goal post straws. Just like an Adam Vinatieri field goal, it’s good!
