Colts, United Way to Host ‘The BIG Kickoff’

Monument Circle event marks start of football and philanthropic seasons

In Indy, fall signals the start of both football and philanthropic seasons. To celebrate both, the Indianapolis Colts will team up with United Way of Central Indiana to host The BIG Kickoff event on Monument Circle.

The Indianapolis Colts and United Way of Central Indiana invite Colts fans to a combined kickoff on Friday, Sept. 9, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis.

The free event will feature live music by Dave and Rae, opportunities to find out about volunteering at United Way and its agencies, free Colts kickoff posters, autographs from Colts Alumni players, interactive inflatables, visits from Colts Cheerleaders and Blue, as well as an opportunity to weigh in on what you think Central Indiana needs to be a great place to live.

“We are delighted to kick off the football and giving season with the Colts for the seventh year in a row,” said Ann D. Murtlow, president and CEO of United Way. “We hope the local business community will join us on The Circle for this high-energy celebration and learn more about what happens when we come together to fight for the education, health, basic needs and financial stability of every person in our community.”

This year, United Way is inviting you and your colleagues to join them in welcoming Central Indiana’s newest neighbors. Through a partnership with several local agencies, United Way is creating housewarming baskets filled with household necessities for individuals who are moving into their first place after experiencing homelessness.

During the Big Kickoff, these baskets will be presented to representatives and clients of participating organizations. To make a contribution toward the housewarming basket project, visit uwci.org/baskets.

Over the lunch hour, fans can also purchase a $5 boxed lunch from Abuelo’s and take pictures with the Vince Lombardi Trophy. This is the seventh year for the combined kickoff event between the two organizations. For more information, fans can visit www.colts.com/kickoff.
